Jaipur.
A massive crowd of parents poured into the Shaheed Smarak premises on Saturday, demanding justice for Amaira Meena, a young student of Neerja Modi School who died under suspicious circumstances on November 1. More than 700 parents participated in the large-scale protest and candle march organized under the banner of the United Parents Association, expressing deep anger over the alleged inaction of the school administration, the education department, and investigating agencies.
Parents raised slogans such as “Justice for Amaira,” “Ensure transparency in investigation,” and “Guarantee safety in schools” as they registered their strong protest. Several public representatives, social activists, and parent leaders addressed the gathering.
Seven-member delegation submits memorandum to Police Commissioner
State Spokesperson Abhishek Jain Bittu informed that after the protest and candle march, a seven-member delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma through Superintendent of Police Lalit Sharma, urging an impartial investigation.
He further raised serious concerns regarding the conduct of the Education Department’s inquiry. He pointed out that Ramniwas Sharma, the head of the committee formed by the Education Ministry, submitted his report just two days ago and made statements to the media allegedly favoring Neerja Modi School. Within hours of this, he was promoted and transferred—an action that raises major questions about possible collusion between the inquiry team and the school administration.
According to the United Parents Association, the Education Department’s inquiry appears biased toward the school, while the notice issued by the CBSE places the school administration under scrutiny. Both stand in stark contrast to each other, highlighting discrepancies in the investigation.
The parents demanded that representatives of parent groups must be included in all committees formed to investigate the Neerja Modi School case and that a fair, transparent, and scientific probe be conducted to ensure strict action against those responsible.
Speakers express anger and disappointment
The protest was addressed by Amaira’s father Vikas Meena, mother Shivani Dev Meena, United Parents Association President Arvind Agrawal, General Secretary Sanjay Goyal, Vice President Manoj Sharma, Jaipur District President Yuvaraj Haseeja, Imran Qureshi, Ashutosh Ranka, Mrs. Sonu Sharma, Jaipur Vyapar Mandal President Lalit Singh Sanchaura, Suresh Meena (President, Adivasi Seva Sangh),
Councillor Devendra Joshi, Nanakram Khateek (PRN Sangharsh Samiti Spokesperson), Councillor Karan Sharma, Rajsabha Mahila Convenor Rekha Sharma, Youth Leader Manoj Meena, Manju Jeps (President, Adivasi Mahila Vikas Sangh),
Neerja Modi School parents Kamal Thakur, Urmila Rathore, Nidhi Gaur, Saurabh Singh and many other representatives.
All speakers voiced the same concern—that even after more than 18 days, the investigation is slow and appears doubtful, further deepening the pain and anger of parents. The United Parents Association declared that the movement will continue in a phased manner until a fair, scientific, and time-bound investigation takes place.
Emotional scenes during the candle march
Towards the end, all parents, public representatives, and social groups took out a candle march around the main road of the Shaheed Smarak in Amaira’s memory. The premises echoed with the emotional pledge: “Amaira, we will ensure justice for you.”
The United Parents Association has once again urged the Government, Police Administration, Education Department, and CBSE to intervene immediately and initiate a free, fair, and high-level inquiry into the matter.
