Annual Kathak Festival by Upang Kathak Nritya Kala Kendra Mesmerizes Audience in Jaipur

 


Jaipur, December 24 – The annual Kathak festival organized by Upang Kathak Nritya Kala Kendra, Jaipur concluded in a grand manner on Wednesday at Jawahar Kala Kendra. The cultural evening showcased the rich heritage of Indian classical dance, with a special focus on the Kathak tradition. Over 100 students participated, captivating the audience with their powerful and graceful performances.




The event commenced with the Ganesh Vandana “Ye Ganpati Jagvandan”. This was followed by a melodious presentation of the song “Rahe Na Rahe Hum” by Manjusha Dani and Nutan Agrawal. Kopal Mohanla performed an expressive dance on “Shiv–Kailashon Ke Vasi”, while Vardham Dolia performed “Nigahen Milake Badal Jaane Wale” and “Mohe Rang Do Lal” with a group of students, including Triyambika Chaturvedi, Jibika, Nitya, Anvi, Feshikha, Shivalika, Manya, Shivnya, and Maishane.




Sadhna Nitya Gupta presented a charming performance on “Barsane Ki Chhori”. Naveli Vashishth and Prassati Vashishth performed a duet Kathak, while Anahika presented a solo Kathak performance. Shweta, Rosi, and Vijayalakshmi performed the Shivastuti, and Dr. Simantini Chaturvedi, Purnima, and Sangeeta presented a moving performance on the song “Kanha”.




The senior Kathak group, consisting of Avni, Anjali, Komal, Saloni, Sakshi, and Bhavya, was a highlight of the festival. In Teen Taal with eleven matras on Arjun Taas Bhed, performers Paridhi, Krisyantri, Ridhima, and Kavyani showcased exceptional technical prowess.

The chief guest, Radharman Sharma (former President, Pink City Press Club), appreciated the artists’ performances and emphasized the importance of such events for the preservation and promotion of classical dance forms.

The festival was guided and organized by Kathak Guru Jay Kumar Jambda, under whose mentorship the Upang Kathak Nritya Kala Kendra continues to promote Kathak and connect the new generation with classical dance.

The organizers concluded the event by expressing gratitude to all artists, mentors, and supporting staff who contributed to making the festival a grand success.
