Ambuja Cements, the world’s ninth-largest building material solutions company and a part of the diversified Adani portfolio, is strengthening rural prosperity in the Marwar Mundwa region through focused water conservation and farmer-centric initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. By promoting farm ponds, rooftop rainwater harvesting systems, micro-irrigation and horticulture-based interventions, the company is enabling farmers to reduce climate dependency, enhance productivity and generate sustainable income.

In Dedia Kalan village, Ambuja Cements supported farmers Bau Devi and Ganpat Ram by constructing a 1,782 cubic metre farm pond along with a rooftop rainwater harvesting system. With assured irrigation, the couple is now cultivating cumin during the off-season and has earned an additional ₹15,000 by selling surplus water, significantly improving year-round farm income. In the same gram panchayat, 20 farmers benefited from farm pond construction, resulting in the storage of 38,147.27 cubic metres of water, strengthening community-level water security and sustainable agriculture.

In Mundwa village, Ambuja Cements helped Bhauram Ji and Pipudi Devi overcome saline groundwater challenges through rainwater harvesting and a 17-lakh-litre capacity farm pond. The intervention enabled them to shift from seasonal farming to diversified crops such as cumin, isabgol and cotton. Their annual income increased from ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh, while dependency on purchased water was eliminated, reducing costs and ensuring reliable water availability for both drinking and irrigation.

Farmer Dharmendra Mundel also witnessed a transformative change. With the support of Ambuja Cements, he constructed a 2,178.38 cubic metre poly-lined farm pond and adopted micro-irrigation technologies. This allowed him to expand his cultivated area from 15 bighas to 30 bighas and save nearly ₹2 lakh annually on irrigation costs. The use of modern tools such as sprinkler systems has positioned him as a model for sustainable and profitable farming in the region.

In Rupasar village, Ambuja Cements assisted farmer Jagdish Ram with a 12.4-lakh-litre farm pond and horticulture-based ‘Wadi’ plantation. Using stored rainwater, he cultivated cumin on eight bighas during the off-season, earning an additional ₹1 lakh. The developing orchard is expected to generate an estimated ₹50,000 in additional annual income in the coming years, further strengthening livelihood resilience.

These initiatives reflect Ambuja Cements’ strong commitment to water security, climate resilience and rural economic empowerment. With the installation of 170 farm ponds and 3,410 rooftop rainwater harvesting units, coupled with continuous farmer engagement, the company is transforming sustainable agriculture into a powerful driver of rural development in the Marwar Mundwa region.
