Jaipur, April 22: Concerns have been raised over discrepancies in the officially published lyrics of “Vande Mataram”, with variations in wording and structure found on the websites of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The issue has sparked concern among patriots and scholars alike.
Renowned moral educationist and spiritual thinker, Acharya Satyanarayan Patodia, who has been honoured by the President of India, highlighted the issue in Jaipur. He stated that inconsistencies in the official lyrics of “Vande Mataram”—a symbol of India’s soul and the spirit of the freedom movement—are a matter of serious concern. He has urged the Central Government to take immediate steps to rectify the errors.
On the occasion, noted dance guru and actress Ushashri, Dr. Amit Patodia, Brij Kishore Shrivastava, international singer Munna Lal Bhat, and Murlidhar Patodia, along with other dignitaries, were present.
Acharya Patodia emphasized that any error in a subject as sensitive and गौरवपूर्ण as the national song is not only an injustice to historical accuracy but also a matter linked to national identity. During the event, he rendered “Vande Mataram” in its correct form and shared accurate information about its lyrics. Copies of the correct version were also distributed among attendees.
He further stated that efforts have already been initiated to address these discrepancies. However, no response has yet been received from the concerned ministries. He added that on April 15, 2026, attempts were made to personally contact officials at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi, but no formal interaction could be established.
Discrepancies Surface Amid 150-Year Milestone
Acharya Patodia pointed out that “Vande Mataram” completed 150 years on November 7, 2025, marking a moment of national pride. At a time when the country is celebrating this historic legacy, the presence of inconsistencies in its official lyrics is deeply concerning.
Authentic Version Available Digitally
He also informed that a complete and authentic version of “Vande Mataram”, properly composed and rendered, has been made available on his YouTube channel “Acharya Satyanarayan Patodia,” enabling the public to understand and connect with its original form.
It is noteworthy that “Vande Mataram” was accorded the status of the National Song by the Constituent Assembly on January 24, 1950. During India’s freedom struggle, especially the 1905 Bengal Partition movement, the song became a powerful symbol of national pride and resistance against British rule.
Notably, Acharya Satyanarayan Patodia was honoured by the Hon’ble President of India on May 2, 2025.
