Walkathon in Jaipur on April 26 to Raise Awareness on Rheumatic Diseases Doctors, patients, and citizens to join hands for a health awareness initiative

Jaipur, April 23:

In an effort to spread awareness about rheumatic diseases and promote a healthy lifestyle, the Rajasthan Rheumatology Association (RRA), in collaboration with the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA), will organize a walkathon on Sunday, April 26. The event will commence at 7:00 AM from the iconic Albert Hall Museum.

The walkathon will witness participation from patients suffering from rheumatic diseases, healthcare professionals, medical students, and members of the general public. The initiative aims to encourage early diagnosis, timely treatment, and the adoption of a healthier lifestyle.

During the event, participants will also be educated about the symptoms, causes, and preventive aspects of various rheumatic conditions. Special focus will be given to diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, ankylosing spondylitis, and other autoimmune disorders, which can become severe if left undiagnosed or untreated.

RRA President Dr. Amit Sharma stated that rheumatic diseases are not limited to the elderly but are increasingly being observed among young individuals and women. “With early detection and appropriate treatment, patients can lead a normal and active life,” he said, urging citizens to actively participate in the awareness drive.

Former RRA President Dr. Aradhana Singh emphasized that lack of awareness often delays diagnosis, leading to complications. She noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in educating the public and encouraging timely medical consultation.

Participants interested in joining the walkathon can register at the venue starting from 6:15 AM. The event is also being supported by Antardhwani Foundation.

The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to spreading awareness, dispelling myths, and fostering a proactive approach toward rheumatic health in the city.
