Jaipur: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment expressed concern over the growing trend of substance abuse among youth and called upon young people to contribute towards building a drug-free India. He was addressing a de-addiction awareness program organized by the Social Justice and Empowerment Council of India at the Rajasthan Constitution Club on Friday.
As the chief guest, Athawale educated participants about the harmful effects of drug addiction and administered a pledge to youth to stay away from intoxicants. He stated that addiction destroys an individual's life, family, and future, while those who lead a drug-free life earn respect and recognition in society.
Speaking on constitutional values, Athawale said that as long as India is guided by the Constitution drafted by , the nation will remain united and strong. He emphasized that the Constitution guarantees democratic rights and freedoms while safeguarding the country's sovereignty and integrity.
The event began with a traditional welcome ceremony led by , Chairman of the Council in Rajasthan. A musical presentation promoting the message of de-addiction was also performed.
Addressing the gathering, Rajasthan Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment said that both the Central and State Governments are actively working towards creating a drug-free society. He noted that addiction negatively impacts health, family life, and social well-being, and that the rising involvement of youth in substance abuse is becoming a serious societal challenge.
, MLA from Bagru, said that addiction affects not only a person's health but also their social reputation and standing in society. He urged people to adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle.
In his concluding remarks, stated that de-addiction is not merely a campaign but a commitment toward building a healthy, safe, and aware society. He stressed that collective efforts and public awareness are essential to effectively combat the menace of drug abuse.
The Council's National President also appealed to young people to stay away from drugs and contribute positively to nation-building. The program concluded with a pledge ceremony, where participants vowed to lead a drug-free life.
