Education meets Fitness. How 20 Alumni, a Deputy CM & a 150-Year Heritage Created Rajasthan’s Most Inspiring Cycling Event

Mayo College, Ajmer — one of India’s most prestigious heritage institutions — completed 150 glorious years this year. To celebrate this remarkable milestone, the Mayo Cycling Network organized a 150-km bicycle rally titled “Ride to Mayo 150 KM,” symbolizing endurance, unity, and the timeless spirit of Mayo alumni.

The rally was ceremonially flagged off by Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, who waved the green flag at Jaipur’s iconic City Palace (Sarvatobhadra Chowk). In her address, she praised Mayo College for its exceptional academic legacy and cultural values, stating how the institution has shaped leaders who bring pride to both Rajasthan and the nation. She also shared her personal connection to the school, mentioning that members of her family have studied there.

The event brought together 20 enthusiastic Mayo alumni, led by Momo Singh, who undertook the challenging 150-km ride to Ajmer. Adding honor to the occasion, Lt. Gen. Alok Kler (Retd.) joined the rally, emphasizing discipline, fitness, and camaraderie.

Prominent alumni such as Jagdeep Singh (President, Mayo Alumni Association Jaipur Chapter), Harish Bhargava (Convener of Mayo 150 Years Celebrations), and Swaraj Singhi (Convener of the global “Life-Cycle” city ride) were also present.

Over the years, the Mayo Cycling Network has conducted cycling rallies in 33 cities across India and internationally, bringing the global Mayo community together through fitness and shared heritage.

This year’s Ride to Mayo 150 KM was more than a cycling event-it was a celebration of legacy, leadership, health, and the vibrant global alumni network that continues to carry the Mayo spirit forward.
