Bhagavad Gita Distributed at District Jail by Gupt Vrindavan Dham

Jaipur’s Gupt Vrindavan Dham, known for its leading role in promoting spirituality, moral values and social harmony, took a meaningful initiative by distributing copies of the Bhagavad Gita at the District Jail on Wednesday.

This step was taken by the Hare Krishna Movement, Gupt Vrindavan Dham, with the objective of character building among inmates and to help curb the growing tendency towards crime in society. Devotees of the temple explained the importance of reading the Bhagavad Gita to the inmates and encouraged them to imbibe its teachings in their daily lives.

Through Harinam Sankirtan, the prisoners were made aware of the significance of chanting the holy names of God. The inmates were also inspired to take a pledge to read the Gita and practice naam-smaran (remembrance of God’s name) as part of their spiritual reform.

It was shared that “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” is currently being distributed in more than 87 languages across over 150 countries worldwide. The Gita distribution at the District Jail was carried out under the Srila Prabhupada Book Marathon, an initiative aimed at spreading the knowledge of the Gita to every section of society—especially where it is most needed, including the underprivileged, youth, and prisoners undergoing the process of reformation.
