Jaipur, January 27.
The fifth edition of Jaipur Art Week commenced on Tuesday, transforming the Pink City into a vibrant platform for contemporary art. Organised by the Public Arts Trust of India (PATI), the seven-day art festival witnessed active participation from artists, curators, art enthusiasts and the general public across multiple public and cultural venues in the city on its opening day.
The festival opened with an artist walkthrough at Central Park, where three major public art installations were showcased. Notable works included Gigi Scaria’s Ascend Towards the Unknown, which explores technological progress and ethical questions, Poojan Gupta’s A Sacred Walk, an installation created using medicine blister packs, and Mohammad Intiyaz’s Dar-Badar 2.0, reflecting on labour, material and collective memory.
Subsequent walkthroughs and discussions were held at various venues. At the PATI headquarters, artist and curator walkthroughs featured digital works and process-based practices by emerging artists. At Amrapali Museum, Maya Kumari Suthar’s exhibition The Desert Land offered a narrative of the Thar Desert through personal memories and colonial archives, followed by a research-based art discussion at Studio Sukriti.
The day concluded with a vernissage and a panel discussion moderated by Kabir Jhala, Art Market Editor at The Art Newspaper, focusing on public–private partnerships in contemporary Indian culture. Jaipur Art Week 5.0 will continue across the city until February 3, 2026, with all events open to the public free of charge.
