Colours Play a Vital Role in Vastu, Says Dr. Bhupendra Vastushastri

Jaipur: Colours hold a significant place in Vastu Shastra alongside directions, the five elements, building design, interior décor, slopes, plants, and other architectural aspects. According to internationally acclaimed Vastu expert and author Dr. Bhupendra Vastushastri, the right choice of colours can enhance positive energy within a home, while inappropriate colours may negatively affect the overall environment and well-being of its occupants.

Dr. Vastushastri explained that light shades such as white, cream, and silver are universally accepted and considered auspicious for residential buildings. These colours can be used both inside and outside the house to create a balanced and positive atmosphere.

He further stated that different directions are associated with specific colours in Vastu. Light sky blue and water-themed visuals are recommended for the Northeast (Ishan) zone, while copper shades are suitable for the East. The Southeast (Agneya) direction benefits from light pink, pearl, and onion shades. For the South, colours such as wheatish, terracotta, and matte finishes are considered favorable.

According to Vastu principles, golden yellow and gold tones are ideal for the Southwest (Nairutya), while grey and light violet are suitable for the West. The Northwest (Vayavya) direction is best complemented by light grey and milky white shades, whereas the North direction is associated with light green or glossy white colours.

Dr. Vastushastri emphasized that selecting colours according to Vastu guidelines can help reduce the effects of certain Vastu defects and contribute to a more harmonious, peaceful, and positive living environment.
