HCG Cancer Centre, Jaipur has achieved a significant milestone in cancer surgery. The centre’s surgical oncology team, led by Dr. Nikhil Mehta along with Dr. Kapil Sharma, Dr. O.P. Jat, and Dr. Manoj Bansal, successfully removed a massive liposarcoma from the inner compartment (medial compartment) of the right thigh of a 49-year-old female patient.
The tumor measured approximately 40×40 cm and weighed 8.5 kilograms, making it one of the largest reported soft tissue sarcomas of the thigh to date.
The patient had been struggling with this condition for eight years. Over time, the tumor grew so large that she experienced constant pain, severe physical discomfort, and difficulty walking. She was unable to move properly for several years.

The challenging surgery was performed by Dr. Nikhil Mehta and his experienced team using an elliptical incision. Post-surgery, the patient showed remarkable improvement, walking independently within days. She was discharged from the hospital on the third day after the procedure.
Liposarcoma is a rare but serious cancer. If not detected early, it can cause long-term physical suffering. In this case, the tumor’s massive size and weight made the surgery extremely challenging, but careful planning and teamwork enabled us to restore the patient’s mobility."
