Know Your Army Mela–2026’ Inaugurated in Jaipur Ahead of 78th Army Day

 


Jaipur, Thursday, January 8, 2026.

As part of the nationwide celebrations leading up to the 78th Army Day, the Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command inaugurated the four-day ‘Know Your Army Mela–2026’ at the Shri Bhawani Niketan Education Campus in Jaipur. The event aims to strengthen civil–military relations and create awareness among citizens, especially youth, about the Indian Army’s role, capabilities and commitment to national security.




The mela was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence added prestige and enthusiasm to the inaugural ceremony. Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, along with several senior Army officers, civil officials and distinguished guests, were present on the occasion.



Chief Minister Interacts with Soldiers and Youth

During the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma interacted with soldiers, students, youth and NCC cadets. He praised the Indian Army for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and integrity. The Chief Minister highlighted the vital role played by the armed forces not only in border security but also in disaster relief, internal security and nation-building.



Commending the Army’s rapidly advancing technological capabilities, he noted that modern warfare demands innovation and preparedness. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from the Army’s disciplined lifestyle, dedication and spirit of sacrifice, and contribute positively to nation-building.




Showcase of Modern Military Equipment

The ‘Know Your Army Mela–2026’ features an impressive display of the Indian Army’s modern weapon systems and advanced military technology. Exhibits include mechanised and artillery equipment, air defence systems, drones, advanced communication systems, armoured vehicles and state-of-the-art infantry weapons.





These displays provide visitors with firsthand knowledge of the Army’s operational readiness and technological strength, offering a rare opportunity for civilians to understand the complexities of modern military operations.

Interactive Stalls and Civil–Military Engagement

One of the major attractions of the mela is the series of interactive stalls and soldier interaction zones, where Army personnel engage directly with visitors. Soldiers briefed attendees on military life, recruitment procedures, training systems and career opportunities in the Indian Army. The enthusiastic participation of students and youth reflected growing interest and admiration for the armed forces.




These interactions have significantly contributed to strengthening civil–military bonds and fostering a deeper sense of respect and trust between the Army and the public.
