Achrol (Jaipur): The West Zone Inter-University Women’s Chess Tournament commenced at the Achrol campus of MJRPU as part of the university’s Sports Week celebrations. A total of 91 universities from five states had registered for the event, with players from more than 65 universities participating in the competition.
The five-day tournament was inaugurated under the guidance of the university administration. The matches are being conducted under both knockout and league formats. The opening day witnessed several thrilling encounters, with outcomes decided in the final moves of intense games. Participants displayed remarkable patience, focus, and strategic excellence.

University Chairperson Nirmal Panwar encouraged the players, stating that such events strengthen students’ confidence, decision-making abilities, and leadership skills. She extended her best wishes to all participants for outstanding performances.
According to the organizing committee, the objective of the Sports Week is to promote holistic development among students and encourage greater interest in sports. Mind sports like chess help enhance concentration, analytical thinking, and quick decision-making skills. Winners from the upcoming rounds will be selected and honored accordingly.
