UGC Rollback’ Slogan Raised; Mega Protest Announced at Ram Lila Maidan on March 8 Warning to Show Black Flags During PM’s Ajmer Visit

 


Jaipur: Under the banner of Savarna Samaj Samanvay Samiti (S-4), office-bearers of more than a dozen organizations addressed a press conference on Monday, announcing a nationwide mega protest against the proposed UGC policy. The protest is scheduled for March 8 at Ram Lila Maidan in the national capital, New Delhi. Organizers claimed that a large number of people from across the country and various states would participate in the Protest.



Addressing the media, Sant Swami Anand Swaroop said there is widespread dissatisfaction among different sections of society regarding the proposed UGC law. He stated that protests have been ongoing nationwide since January 13, demanding the government reconsider the legislation. However, alleging no concrete response from the government, he said the organization was compelled to call for a mass movement. He also expressed hope that a resolution would emerge within the timeframe indicated by the Supreme Court and urged the government to initiate dialogue and withdraw the contentious provisions.

Speakers alleged that the proposed law could create social divisions and called upon the central government to roll it back. They warned that if the demand is not addressed in time, public agitation may intensify.

“Future of Youth at Stake” – Vijay Kaushik

Rashtriya Hindu Mahasabha National President Vijay Kaushik stated that issues concerning the future of youth cannot be ignored. He said various social organizations would raise their concerns through democratic means and appealed to people nationwide to participate in large numbers. He claimed that thousands from Rajasthan would travel to Delhi via buses, trains, and private vehicles to join the protest.

Protest During PM’s Ajmer Visit – Mahipal Makarana

Shri Rajput Karni Sena National President Mahipal Makarana announced opposition to the proposed UGC law during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Ajmer. He warned that black flags may be shown as a mark of protest and described the proposed law as socially divisive, urging the government to withdraw it.

Support from Other Organizations

Several representatives from social and trade bodies also expressed support for the movement during the press conference, pledging participation in the March 8 protest in New Delhi.
