Eka: The One’ Exhibition in Jaipur Showcases the Divine Energy of 64 Yoginis

Jaipur: Rooted in the Indian philosophical belief that woman is ‘Narayani’—the primordial source of creation—the exhibition ‘Eka: The One’ offers visitors a spiritual encounter with divine feminine energy. The traveling exhibition by senior Kerala-based artist Dr. Beena S. Unnikrishnan is currently on display at the Alankar Gallery of Jawahar Kala Kendra, where it entered its second day on Tuesday, drawing art lovers and spiritual seekers alike.

The exhibition features 68 paintings centered around the 64 Yoginis, revered figures in Devi worship. Each Yogini symbolizes a distinct form of cosmic energy and spiritual power. Through these artworks, the artist seeks to create an immersive experience that connects viewers with these sacred energies.

Dr. Beena spent five years creating this body of work. The journey began with a depiction of Mahatripurasundari and gradually evolved into an expansive spiritual and artistic pursuit. After being showcased in Kochi, Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad, the exhibition has now reached Jaipur. This 81-day traveling exhibition will cover 16 states and approximately 10,000 kilometers. It remains open to visitors until February 18, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily.

Temple Visits After Completing the Series

Dr. Beena shares that it was her inner feminine energy that guided her toward this artistic path. After completing the 64 Yogini series, she visited their temples, describing the experience as deeply transformative and spiritually enriching.

Documentary Highlights Mythological Significance

A 60-minute documentary is also being screened as part of the exhibition. It explores the historical background, mythological relevance, and spiritual dimensions of the Yoginis. The documentary is produced by the artist herself and directed by Dr. Jain Joseph.

Art as a Spiritual Journey

Dr. Beena’s first exhibition was held in 1998. She reflects that every painting she has created since then has shaped her growth as an individual. The Yogini series, she says, is not merely an artistic endeavor but a profound spiritual journey. According to her, engaging with these divine energies helped her overcome fear, doubt, and overthinking, bringing her confidence, balance, and inner peace.

The exhibition stands as a powerful confluence of art and spirituality, offering Jaipur’s art community a unique and transformative experience.
