Jaipur, December 14:
A powerful nationwide movement advocating the constitutional recognition of the cow as Rashtra Mata (Mother of the Nation) was formally launched on Sunday from the Sitapura Industrial Area in Jaipur with the commencement of the ‘Gau Samman Aahvan Abhiyan’. Saints, cow devotees, and gaushala representatives from across the country gathered in unanimity to lay the foundation of a selfless, non-violent and nationwide mass movement dedicated to cow protection.

Held under the spiritual presence of Gau Mata and Nandi Maharaj, the conclave categorically stated that the movement would remain independent of any organisation, institution or political party. Its core objectives include granting constitutional status to the cow as Rashtra Mata, enforcing a complete ban on cow slaughter, and ensuring strong government policies to preserve cow-based and Govardhan-centric cultural traditions.
Demand for Central Law on Cow Protection
The saints and cow protectors present at the conference urged the Central Government to enact a stringent central law for cow protection. Key demands included life imprisonment for those involved in cow slaughter and illegal trafficking, and the utilisation of seized vehicles for the benefit of gaushalas.
Cow-Based Systems in Industry, Temples and Markets
Major resolutions were also adopted to integrate cow service into mainstream systems. It was proposed that industrial units be allotted land only after associating with at least one cow service activity. Government-controlled temples should mandatorily use milk, curd and ghee obtained exclusively from indigenous cows for offerings, rituals and prasad. Additionally, large shopping malls should establish dedicated counters for cow-based agricultural products, indigenous dairy items and cow urine products.
Decisive Role of Women in the Movement
Emphasising the pivotal role of women, Mahamandaleshwar Pushpa Bai and Kamal Didi stated that without active participation of women, the dream of declaring Gau Mata as Rashtra Mata would remain incomplete. They noted that women’s involvement naturally brings entire families into the movement, strengthening its grassroots impact.
Peaceful Movement Till August 15, 2027
As per the action plan, nationwide awareness campaigns will be conducted from January to March 2026. In April 2026, memorandums addressed to the President, Prime Minister, Governors and Chief Ministers will be submitted at every tehsil and district headquarters. If no satisfactory response is received, phased follow-up efforts will continue.
On February 27, 2027, saints and cow devotees from 800 districts and 5,000 tehsils will assemble in Delhi. This will be followed by a six-month-long peaceful Gau Sankirtan culminating on August 15, 2027.
Entirely Non-Violent Movement
Tarak Chand Kothari, State President of the Bharatiya Gau Kranti Manch, clarified that the movement will remain completely non-violent. There will be no speeches, no stages, no slogans and no damage to public or private property. The sole symbol of the campaign will be the image of Gau Mata and Nandi Maharaj, while sankirtan, prayers and public awareness will serve as the mediums to convey the message to society and the government.
